What is Social Media Book Marking?

http://www.empowernetwork.com/allthingssocialmedia/blog/are-you-using-social-bookmarking/

What is Social Bookmarking?

Social Bookmarking allows you to have one place where you can add, annotate, edit, and share bookmarks of web documents. There are many bookmark management services, at the end of the blog there is a list of the top 15 Social Bookmarking sites..

Many social bookmarking services provide feeds for their lists of bookmarks, including lists organized by tags. This allows subscribers to become aware of new bookmarks as they are saved, shared, and tagged by other users. It helps to promote your sites by networking with other social book markers and collaborating with each other.

These services have matured and grown more popular, they have added extra features such as ratings and comments on bookmarks, the ability to import and export bookmarks from browsers, emailing of bookmarks, web annotation, and groups or other social network features.

How Can You Use It To Your Benefit?

For individual , social bookmarking can be useful as a way to access a consolidated set of bookmarks from various computers, organize large numbers of bookmarks, and share bookmarks with contacts. Institutions including businesses, libraries, and universities have used social bookmarking as a way to increase information sharing among members. Social bookmarking has been also used to improve web search.

Social bookmarking
have been used by some to a tool to use along with SEO to make their website more visible. The more often a web page is submitted and tagged, the better it cab be found. Spammers have started bookmarking the same web page multiple times and/or tagging each page of their web site using a lot of popular tags, obligating developers to constantly adjust their security system to overcome abuses. because social bookmarking generates backlinks, social bookmark link generating services are used by some webmasters in an attempt to artificially improve their websites' rankings in search engine results pages.

Found this article very interesting to say the least. It is good to use social bookmarking to your benefit. There are tons of little ways out there to get more visitors to your site sooner then later. When you get a chance please read the rest of the article by Wikipedia.

They started with a idea that everyone has a influence on social media. There goal is to show everyone can influence the world, this is a great tool that shows your influence.

Klout measures your influence across a few social media networks, shows users the impact they have on people there connected to. The Klout Score, is a number between 1-100, it represence your overall social media influence. The science of the Score examines more than 400 variables on multiple social networks beyond your number of followers and friends. Looks at who is engaging, who they are sharing it with. You can view your Klout Score, the number is in the orange box.

Klout Perks

Depends on your score, topics and location, you could earn rewards from brands.

Klout Score Signals

There are 400 different ways on a few different social media sites. Here are a few different ways to see how the Klout score is measured.

Here are some of the top signals we measure by network:

Facebook

Mentions: A mention of your name in a post indicates an effort to engage with you directly.

Likes: The simplest action that shows engagement with the content you create.
Comments: As a reaction to content you share, comments also reflect direct engagement by your network.

Subscribers: Subscriber count is a more persistent measure of influence that grows over time.

Wall Posts: Posts to your wall indicate both influence and engagement.

Friends: Friend count measures the reach of your network but is less important than how your network engages with your content.

Twitter

Retweets: Retweets increase your influence by exposing your content to extended follower networks.

Mentions: People seeking your attention by mentioning you is a strong signal of influence. We also take into account the differences in types of mentions, including “via” and “cc.”

List Memberships: Being included on lists curated by other users demonstrates your areas of influence.

Followers: Follower count is one factor in your Score, but we heavily favor engagement over size of audience.

Replies: Replies show that you are consistently engaging your network with quality content.

Google+

Comments: As a reaction to content you share, comments also reflect direct engagement by your network.
+1’s: The simplest action that shows engagement with the content you create.
Reshares: Reshares increase your influence by exposing your content to extended networks on Google+.

LinkedIn

Title: Your reported title on LinkedIn is a signal of your real-world influence and is persistent.
Connections: Your connection graph helps validate your real-world influence.
Recommenders: The recommenders in your network add additional signals to the contribution LinkedIn makes to your Score.
Comments: As a reaction to content you share, comments also reflect direct engagement by your network.

Klout

+K received: Receiving +K increases your Klout Score by an amount that is capped in every 90-day measurement cycle to protect the integrity of the Score.

foursquare

Tips Done: The number of suggestions you’ve left that have been completed indicate your ability to influence others on foursquare.

Wikipedia

Inlinks: Measures the total number of inbound links to a page.
Ratio of Inlinks to Outlinks: Compares the number of inbound links to a page to the number of outbound links.
Page Importance (as measured by PageRank): Measured by applying a PageRank algorithm against the Wikipedia page graph.

Let me share Klout core principles for the Klout score.

Connecting Networks Can Only Help Your Score

Influence is the Ability to Drive Action

Klout is Constantly Evolving

Being Active is different than Being Influential

Everyone has Klout

Influence is Built Over Time

So wanted to share a awesome tool with you on developing your social media influence. When you get a chance check it out and sign up. Its a great tool to use and its free to use as well. My goal is to share information with you that help develop your social media presence.

The Celebration of Kwanzaa

Hey, Ive been asked about Kwanzaa. I know about it but do I really know about it. Since my knowledge of Kwanzaa is limited. Wanted to take the time to share it with others. Im one of those who like to stay informed no matter what it is. So wanted to take the time to share this week-long celebration with you. So you will have the full understanding of why people celebrate Kwanzaa. This celebration honors African heritage in African-American culture, and is observed from December 26 to January 1, culminating in a feast and gift-giving.

Kwanzaa celebrates what its founder called the seven principles of Kwanzaa, or Nguzo Saba (originally Nguzu Saba—the seven principles of African Heritage), which Karenga said "is a communitarian African philosophy," consisting of what Karenga called "the best of African thought and practice in constant exchange with the world." These seven principles comprise *Kawaida, a Swahili term for tradition and reason. Each of the seven days of Kwanzaa is dedicated to one of the following principles, as follows:

Umoja (Unity): To strive for and to maintain unity in the family, community, nation, and race.
Kujichagulia (Self-Determination): To define ourselves, name ourselves, create for ourselves, and speak for ourselves.
Ujima (Collective Work and Responsibility): To build and maintain our community together and make our brothers' and sisters' problems our problems, and to solve them together.
Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics): To build and maintain our own stores, shops, and other businesses and to profit from them together.
Nia (Purpose): To make our collective vocation the building and developing of our community in order to restore our people to their traditional greatness.
Kuumba (Creativity): To do always as much as we can, in the way we can, in order to leave our community more beautiful and beneficial than we inherited it.
Imani (Faith): To believe with all our hearts in God, our people, our parents, our teachers, our leaders, and the righteousness and victory of our struggle.

Hope this has been helpful to you, this is just a little info Ive found, the link is below so you can read more about it. Feel free to click on the link to get a even better understanding of Kwanzaa. Thanks and as always feel free to comment on this blog post.
